Some of the most impactful experiences of my life have been attending drum camps. The sense of community, the opportunity to learn and share, and the personal growth I’ve experienced have always inspired me to create my own. And now, I’m thrilled to share that vision with you!
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Scottish countryside, we’ll spend three full days diving into our drumming and growing together. Each camp will focus on a unique topic, and throughout the camps, you’ll discover my unique practice systems and methods, dive deep into each aspect of drumming and leave armed with a information, inspiration and a clear plan on how to develop your own drumming.
To keep things intimate and impactful, each camp is limited to just 8 participants. This ensures everyone gets personal, 1-on-1 time with me, while also enjoying group sessions where you can share ideas, play, and build lifelong friendships with fellow drummers.

I couldn’t recommend Dave’s drum camps enough! Whether it was the chilled-out hangs or the in-depth classes, I enjoyed every second of it! I can’t wait for the next one.
Dave ensured that all levels of drummer were catered for, it was all our journey and Dave created and maintained such a positive atmosphere throughout the camp. A great camp and I learned so much from a great teacher.
Dave’s camp was an incredible and impactful experience. I learned so much in such a short amount of time and being surrounded by such a passionate and talented group of drummers created an inspiring environment that pushed me to grow.

Camps take place in the picturesque Scottish village of Ratho. Peaceful, serene and right next to Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh, it is the perfect setting for my camps.

You can easily get to the camps by plane, train or automobiles!
Edinburgh Airport is a busy international airport which is easily accessible from anywhere in the world and only a short taxi ride away from the camp.
You can also get into Edinburgh by train and then tram out to the camps.
There is plenty of parking available should you choose to drive.

What are the 3 camp topics?
I am a drum nerd and the 3 camp topics are subjects I am passionate about.
The Technique and Facility Camp will cover hand, foot and drum set technique from the very basics to advanced techniques and concepts. As with all my camps, you’ll leave armed with not only the knowledge of the topic but also a clear idea of how to practice the techniques, but also how to use them musically. The Creative Practice Camp is focused on practice and every system and concept I use and teach every day to develop all aspects of drumming. Whether it’s rudiments, vocabulary development, groove freedom or even improvisation The Creative Practice Camp not only help you know what to practice but most importantly how. We will also cover practice mindsets, constructing a practice routine and all other aspects of practice.
The Sound Time and Feel Camp will focus on what a drummer needs to do in music, which is to play good-feeling, inventive parts that serve and enhance the songs you are playing.
In this camp, you’ll learn how to transform your time, master the click and develop a deep understanding of subdivisions and how to use them musically. We will learn how to get a great sound from any kit through tuning, sound tweaks and making great choices for the song. Finally we will work on groove construction, charting, interpreting and performing a song quickly. How do I sign up and secure my space?
To reserve your spot, simply complete the booking form HERE and then select non-refundable £100 deposit. You can secure your space with a £100 deposit and then the balance is due 60 days before the start of your camp.

What does a camp look like?
Each camp lasts 3 days, with educational sessions running from 10am to 6pm. We meet at 9.30am for warmups and to get ourselves ready for the day!
While the focus of the camp is on drumming, there will be plenty of time for you and your fellow campers to practice the material, relax, and enjoy the refreshments and snacks provided throughout the day.
Weather permitting (it is Scotland after all!), we will enjoy the outdoors and clear our minds with country walks. Each camper will have the chance to play on one of the two Sonor acoustic kits, and practice kits will be available for solo work.
We’ll be supporting one another, with plenty of opportunities for playing, asking questions, and having fun! Some camps will also feature evening events such as roundtable discussions, hangouts, and performances (though not all camps will include these). There’s also a welcome meal the evening before the camp begins.
All evening events (except the welcome meal) are optional but highly encouraged!
What is taught on the camp?
Each camp focusses on a different topic and so the material varies with each camp. No matter the camp, however, everything is taught through the lens of practice and so you will not only learn the material but also leave each camp with the tools to practice effectively and for results.
Throughout each day, there will be plenty of time to practice the material on your own and together with other campers. Will I get to play during the camp?
ABSOLUTELY! This isn’t a sit and watch camp! It is very interactive and you will get the chance to practice material on your own throughout the day as well play the acoustic kits with me or another camper.
What level do I need to be to attend a camp?
While the material covered in each camp is designed to be relevant for drummers of all levels, I recommend not being an absolute beginner. If you’ve been playing for 6 months+ and have a basic understanding of subdivisions, metronome work, and rudiments then you’ll fit right in.
All the material taught applies to any level, and I will work with where you are and guide you to the next level of your drumming. If you’re unsure about your level, feel free to reach out to me at camps@davemajormusic.com, and I’d be happy to help!
What do I need to bring?
I recommend bringing some sticks, ear plugs (drums can be loud!!) or over the ear headphones. Everything else you need is provided.
Each camper gets a mini practice kit with a throne, music stands and everything you need. There are 2 acoustic kits and 3 electric kits for solo practice sessions.
