Some of the most impactful experiences of my life have been attending drum camps. The sense of community, the opportunity to learn and share, and the personal growth I’ve experienced have always inspired me to create my own. And now, I’m thrilled to share that vision with you!
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Scottish countryside, we’ll spend three full days diving into what I love most—practice. You’ll discover my unique practice systems and methods, and learn how they work together to create a well-rounded routine that will help you become a more expressive and creative drummer.
To keep things intimate and impactful, each camp is limited to just 10 participants. This ensures everyone gets personal, 1-on-1 time with me, while also enjoying group sessions where you can share ideas, play, and build lifelong friendships with fellow drummers.

Where is it?
Camps take place in the picturesque Scottish village of Ratho. Peaceful, serene and right next to Scotland’s capital Edinburgh, it is the perfect setting for my camps.
How do I get there?
You can easily get to the camps by plane, train or automobiles! Edinburgh Airport is a busy international airport easily accessible from anywhere in the world and only a short taxi ride away. You can also get into Edinburgh by train and then tram out to the camps.
There is plenty of parking available should you choose to drive.
Where can I stay?
There are plenty of options available for accommodation in the village or very nearby.
My recommendations are –
The Bridge Inn – Traditional Scottish accommodation, award-winning food and drink and a 5-minute walk from the camp.
(campers can get 10% off accommodation using code davemajor)
The Lost Shore – Europe’s largest indoor surfing centre with a large selection of 1 to 4 bed lodges available. A short walk to the camp and perfect if you want a spot of surfing with your drumming!

There are also a large selection of airport hotels available. These include Travelodge Ratho Station, Hilton Edinburgh Airport, Moxy Edinburgh Airport.

What does a camp look like?
Each camp lasts 3 days, with educational sessions running from 10am to 6pm. While the focus is on drumming, there will also be plenty of time for campers to practice the material, relax, and enjoy refreshments and snacks provided throughout the day.
Each camper will have the chance to play on one of the two Sonor acoustic kits, and practice kits will be available for solo work.
We’ll be supporting one another, with plenty of opportunities for playing, asking questions, and having fun! Some camps will also feature evening events such as roundtable discussions, hangouts, and performances (though not all camps will include these). There’s also a welcome meal the evening before the camp begins.
All evening events (except the welcome meal) are optional but highly encouraged!
What level do I need to be to attend a camp?
While the material covered in each camp is designed to be relevant for drummers of all levels, I recommend being at least an intermediate/advanced player. A basic understanding of subdivisions, metronome work, and rudiments will be helpful (though don’t worry about being a master!). Some experience with different feels and styles will also be beneficial.
If you’re unsure about your level, feel free to reach out to me at camps@davemajormusic.com, and I’d be happy to help!
What do I need to bring?
Sticks and yourself…that’s it. Everything else is provided.
Each camper gets a mini practice kit with stool, music stands and everything you need. There are 2 acoustic kits as well as a couple of practice kits for solo practice. Are there any other camps available?
To start I want to focus on making the best camp I can but I do have ideas for future camps on different topics and will then offer each camp every year. To keep up to date you can keep an eye on my social media or join my mailing list.
